The Brass Arcanum
Crafted by master wandmaker Ralph Dunlop, this commanding 45cm wand bears the unmistakable character of a diviner's instrument, long-travelled, richly adorned, and heavy with accumulated purpose. The shaft is dark and spiralling, wound with twin helical grooves and dressed in fine chains of antique gold and dark-brass beadwork that trace the twist from grip to tip.
The handle rises through a series of stacked wooden spheres in amber, coral red, and deep teal, each distinct in colour and character, separated by darkened wooden bands. Above them, a sculpted brass chalice form serves as the grip proper, engraved, curved, and cold to the touch, before terminating in a small amber bead at the very crown, delicate as a bead of resin caught mid-fall.
The point is capped in worked brass filigree, open and intricate, like the end of a ceremonial staff meant to channel rather than pierce.
In old wandlore, the stacked bead handle was associated with augurs and readers, practitioners who worked not with force, but with perception. Each sphere was said to correspond to a mode of seeing: amber for the physical world, red for the emotional, teal for the spiritual. A wand built with all three was believed capable of reading across all planes simultaneously.
The spiral shaft is the mark of a working wand, one that has been used, refined, and trusted. The twin helical channels were thought to allow magic to move in two directions at once: outward in casting, and inward in receiving.
Particularly attuned to divination, spirit communication, reading of auras and intentions, and the unravelling of hidden truths. The Brass Arcanum is said to grow warmer when its bearer is being lied to.

Each wand is hand crafted by our father, Ralph Dunlop.
Now retired, he lives up in the hills of Dartmoor with his wife Pippa in their cozy cottage, overlooking the Teign Valley.
Gathering wood from his private forest, he painstakingly sands, carves and varnishes each wand by hand. Finally, he combines them with antique metals and decorations, forging them into beautiful, completely unique, works of art.
(and we couldn’t be more proud.)
